 A gathering centre since immemorial times, Serra da Estrela can
be considered without exaggeration, the heart of the Nation. Either
as a shelter to the resistant to the various invasions held against
us; as a birth place to many who have been made notable by what
they gave to others; as a source of life, in their valleys where
the bread that feeds Man has always been cultivated, where always
has grazed the cattle that gives Man meat, wool to wear, and milk
to make such delicatessen that flavour the hardships of an existence.
 Because the mountains give so much, so they demand a lot in return.
Its rigorous winters, the austerity of some of the landscapes, demand
courage, and the gallantry of its inhabitants, that go on living
there no matter what.
Serra da Estrela is Mother. It uses the severity of its climate
and the fertility of the ground of its valleys in wise doses with
the maternal intention of shaping characters, uses its mountains
as protective arms… It moves us with the splendour of its
white snow.
 Either for affective links or by the magnificence of the scenery,
or for the traditions full of ancient knowledge of its people, or
for the simple contact with Nature, Serra da Estrela changes us!
